Jeju Island has been a favorite vacation spot among Koreans for decades. There is a new reason many more people visit the island these days. Jeju Island has been boasting what's called Olle paths. These are natural hiking trails that go around the whole island. The trails pass through forests, mountains, and beaches. These hidden paths were opened to the public in September of 2007 and new trails have been added every year. There are roughly 21 paths you can choose from altogether. Each trail takes several hours to hike. Some of these paths lead to Jeju's charming local villages. in the local jeju dialect, Olle was originally referred to the narrow path between the street and one's doorstep.

 

예전부터 제주도는 국내의 인기 휴양지로 자리매김해 왔습니다. 최근에는 또 다른 이유로 사람들이 더 많이 찾게 되었습니다. 제주도는 올레길을 새롭게 선보였습니다. 올레길은 섬 전체를 둘러싼 자연 산책로입니다. 올레길은 숲, 산 해변 등을 가로지릅니다. 알려지지 않았던 이 올레길은 2007년 9월 대중에 첫선을 보였으며, 해마다 새로운 산책로가 추가되고 있습니다. 현재 모두 합쳐서 약 21개의 산책로가 이용 가능합니다. 각 산책로는 걷는 데 몇 시간 정도가 소요됩니다. 어떤 산책로는 제주도의 매력적인 현지 마을과도 연결됩니다. 제주도 방언으로 올레는 본래 길거리와 대분 사이에 나 있는 좁은 길을 일컫는 말이었습니다.
