Just like the FDA in the United States, Korea has its own Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS). The MFDS ensures the safety of foods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics. The MFDS plays a role in the regulation and enforcement of standards. Raw produce or farm goods are overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA). The MFDS makes sure that processed foods and drugs are safe for consumption. If a particular product breaks safety regulations, the MFDS has the authority to impose penalties. It also makes product recalls known to the public. The MFDS's ultimate goal is to maintain the quality of food and pharmaceuticals in the country.

 

미국에 식품의약국(FDA)이 있는 것처럼, 한국에도 식품의약품안전처(MFDS)가 있습니다. 식약처(MFDS)는 식품, 의약품, 의료 기기 및 화장품의 안전성을 검증하는 정부 기관입니다. 식약처는 이러한 상품들의 안전 기준을 규제하고 집행하는 역할을 담당하고 있습니다. 가공되지 않는 원재료나 농산물은 농림축산식품부(MAFRA)에서 관장합니다. 식약처에서는 가공식품 및 의약품의 사용 안전성을 감독합니다. 안전규정을 위반한 제품이 발견될 경우, 식약처는 합당한 징계 조치를 내릴 수 있습니다. 또한 식약처는 리콜된 제품을 공시하기도 합니다. 식약처의 궁극적인 목표는 국내에 유통되는 식품 및 의약품의 품질을 유지하는 것입니다.
