Korea has a volume-based garbage system. The more trash you produce, the more you have to pay. You pay by buying regulation garbage bags. If you don't use these designated plastic bags, they do not collect your garbage. Garbage bags can be purchased at supermarkets or convenience stores. They come in different sizes, and prices vary according to their size. You can actually buy a garbage bag to park things you've bought at a store. There are separate garbage bags for food waste. Koreans take out the food waste separately to designated containers. Korea does not allow garbage disposals under the kitchen sink. Plus, you take out the recycling separately as well.

 

한국은 쓰레기 종량제를 시행하고 있습니다. 즉, 쓰레기를 많이 버릴수록 돈을 더 내야 한다는 뜻입니다. 쓰레기 처리 비용은 쓰레기 규격 봉투를 구입함으로써 지불하게 됩니다. 이렇게 지정된 비닐 봉투를 사용하지 않는 경우, 쓰레기를 수거해 가지 않습니다. 종량제 봉투는 슈퍼마켓이나 편의점에서 구입할 수 있습니다. 종량제 봉투는 여러 가지 크기로 나오는데 크기별로 가격이 다릅니다. 상점에서 산 물건들을 담을 때 종량제 봉투를 구입할 수도 있습니다. 음식물 쓰레기 종량제 봉투도 따로 있습니다. 한국에서는 음식물 쓰레기를 지정된 수거통에 따로 내다 버립니다. 한국에서는 부엌 싱크대 밑에 음식물 분쇄기를 설치하는 것을 금지하고 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 재활용 쓰레기도 따로 내다 버립니다.
