Parents' Day is May 8th in Korea. It's a custom to give carnations to parents on this day. I already picked up some flowers for my mom and dad on my way home last night. I also wrote them a thank-you card. I have some special plans lined up for today. First, I'm taking my folks out for dinner to a nice restaurant. The place is a bit pricey, but I want to treat them well. After dinner, we're going to a musical together. I paid for the tickets for them. My parents have done so much for me all my life. I really want to make this day special for my mom and dad.

 

한국에서 5월 8일은 어버이날입니다. 어버이날 부모님께 카네이션을 드리는 것이 우리 풍습입니다. 그래서 저는 어젯밤 집에 오는 길에 어머니와 아버지께 드릴 카네이션을 미리 샀습니다. 그리고 감사 카드도 준비했습니다. 저는 오늘 몇 가지 특별한 계획을 준비하고 있습니다. 우선 괜찮은 음식점에 가서 두 분께 저녁 식사를 대접하려고 합니다. 그 음식점은 약간 비싼 편이지만, 저는 부모님께 좋은 음식을 대접해 드리고 싶습니다. 저녁 식사를 마치고, 뮤지컬을 함께 보러 갈 것입니다. 부모님을 위해 제가 표를 샀습니다. 부모님께서는 저한테 평생 많은 것을 해 주셨습니다. 그래서 오늘은 어머니와 아버지께 정말 특별한 날로 만들어 드리고 싶습니다.

B : Oh, yes. I'm very close with them. 

A : Good for you. 

B : My parents are very supportive. I really thank them for being that way. 

 

A : 너는 부모님이랑 가깝게 지내는 편이니? 

B : 응. 부모님과 매우 가까운 편이야. 

A : 그렇구나. 

B : 우리 부모님께서는 나를 항상 응원해 주셔. 그래서 정말 감사하게 생각해.
