Before an educaion-major gets a teaching certificate in Korea, he or she must fulfill one's student teaching requirement. The training takes place during the senior year of college, typically in the month of April or May. Commonly, a veteran teacher is assigned to each student-teacher to oversee his or her training. The first week is mainly about getting to know the students. During the second week, student-teachers learn the ropes by observing class sessions. They typically start teaching in class during the third week. In the last week, other teachers sit in during the classes and offer feedback. Student-teachers get hands-on experience on student counseling as well.
한국에서는 교육 전공자가 교원 자격증을 받기 위해서는 교생 실습을 반드시 거쳐야 합니다. 대학교 4학년 때 교생 실습을 하게 되는데, 주로 4월이나 5월에 실습을 나갑니다. 일반적으로 경력이 많은 교사 한 명이 교생 한 명을 맡아 감독합니다. 첫째 주에는 주로 학생들과 친해지는 시간을 갖습니다. 둘째 주에는 수업을 참관하며 교실 수업에 대한 감을 익힙니다. 그리고 셋째 주부터 실제로 학생들을 가르치기 시작합니다. 마지막 주에는 감독 선생님이 수업을 참관하며 조언을 해 줍니다. 더불어 교생들은 학생 상담에 관한 실무 경험을 쌓기도 합니다.

A public school teacher is a very popular job in Korea. The competition to become a teacher at a public school is very tough. To become a certified teacher at a public school, you have to pass a state teacher exam called the "im-yong-go-shi." THere are seperate tests for elememtary school teachers and secondary school teachers. To become eligible to take the exam, you need to acquire a certificate in teaching. To do that, you have to graduate college with an education degree or get enough credits in education. As for elementary school teachers, there are specialized schools named "University of Education" that you have to attend. Teachers at private schools do not have to take this state exam.
공립 학교 교사는 한국에서 매우 인기 있는 직업입니다. 공립 학교 교사가 되기 위한 경쟁은 매우 치열합니다. 한국에서 공립 학교의 정식 교원이 되기 위해서는 임용 고시라는 국가 고시에 합격해야 합니다. 초등학교와 중고등학교 교사는 별도의 시험을 치르게 됩니다. 중등 교원 임용 고시를 치르기 위해서는 교원 자격증이 있어야 합니다. 교원 자격증을 취득하기 위해서는 사법 대학교를 졸업하거나 일정학점 이상의 교직 과목을 이수해야 합니다. 초등학교 교사의 경우, 교원 자격증을 취득하기 위해서는 교육대학교라는 특화된 학교를 졸업해야 합니다. 사립학교 교사들은 임용 고시를 치르지 않아도 됩니다.
